MAMRE-ABBOTTS-ALDINGTON ROAD UPGRADES
About the Project
The Mamre-Abbotts-Aldington Road Upgrades are part of a significant infrastructure project within the Mamre Road Precinct (MRP), located in the Western Sydney Employment Area. The MRP spans 850 hectares of rezoned rural land, now poised for industrial development, offering major opportunities for employment and economic growth. Once fully developed, the precinct is projected to generate approximately 5,200 construction jobs and 17,000 ongoing jobs, driving growth in the region.
The project encompasses road widening, upgrades, and intersection improvements to support the planned industrial redevelopment and cater to future traffic demands. The MRP is already home to key industrial and logistics developments from major industry players, with more than 50% of these expected to be operational by 2026. Several developments will utilise the Mamre Road and Abbotts Road intersection for access while others will connect via Aldington Road.
This project is part of two State Significant Development Applications (SSD09138102 and SSD-10479) and is being delivered through a joint Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) between the developers, Penrith City Council, and the Department of Planning and Environment. These upgrades aim to enhance road safety, efficiency, and capacity, while improving public and active transport options and supporting the region’s long-term industrial redevelopment.
The project key upgrade components include:
Mamre/Abbotts Road Intersection Upgrade
This upgrade will improve traffic flow and safety at a critical junction, reducing congestion and improving access for both local residents and industrial operators
Aldington and Abbotts Road Upgrade, Phase 1
Aldington and Abbotts Road Upgrade, Phase 2
Road widening and realignment, new traffic signals, and safer pedestrian crossings will be implemented in two phases to meet future transport needs.
Construction began in September 2024 and is expected to be completed over the next 24 months. Restoration and landscaping activities will follow construction to ensure the upgraded environment blends seamlessly with its surroundings.
