- Aldington and Abbotts Road Upgrade, Phase 2
What are the benefits of this project?
The project will improve road safety, reduce traffic congestion, enhance public and active transport options, support industrial growth, and provide future expansion opportunities.
How will traffic be managed during construction?
Traffic control measures, including road changes and temporary diversions, will be implemented to ensure the safety of road users and construction workers. Local access will be maintained where possible, and we can confirm that no construction traffic will use Bakers Lane. Please follow all traffic signs and directions from Traffic Controllers.
Will public transport be affected during construction?
There may be minor disruptions to public transport, such as detours or relocated bus stops. We will notify commuters of any changes in advance.
How can I get updates about road closures or changes to traffic conditions?
Updates will be provided via the Project Works page of the website, community notifications, and traffic signage. You can also subscribe to email updates for timely information.
What measures are being taken to minimise noise and dust?
We are committed to managing noise and dust by implementing control measures at the source. These include dust live monitors and water sprays, and limiting work to specified hours.
Will construction cause vibrations?
Some minor vibrations may occur during construction. Monitoring will be put in place to ensure vibrations stay within safe limits and do not affect nearby properties.
How will construction affect the local community?
There may be increased vehicle movements, noise, dust, and minor vibrations. Traffic conditions will temporarily change, but traffic control measures will ensure community safety and aim to minimise disruptions.
Will local businesses be impacted by the construction?
While some temporary disruptions may occur, we are working closely with local businesses to minimise impacts and maintain access throughout the construction period.
How will environmental impacts be managed during the project?
We will manage environmental impacts through several measures, including dust suppression and noise control. Dust will be minimised with regular watering, and noise will be controlled using low-noise machinery and restricted work hours.
Will there be any restoration after construction is complete?
Yes, once construction is complete, all work areas will be restored as close to their original condition as possible, with additional landscaping to ensure the infrastructure integrates with the surrounding environment.
What are the working hours for construction?
Standard working hours are from 8:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays, and 8:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays. Any night work or out-of-hours activities will be communicated with stakeholders and the community in advance.
What happens if the construction timeline changes?
If the construction timeline changes due to unforeseen circumstances, we will notify stakeholders and the community through the project website or via other communication channels.
Will there be opportunities for community feedback during the project?
Yes, we welcome community feedback throughout the project. Regular updates will be provided, and you can share feedback through community engagement events or via the project website.
